Connect your phone

Pair the SUPER DESKTOP app on Android with SUPER DESKTOP on your Linux PC. It takes about a minute, and you do it once: your phone then reaches your PC's sessions directly, over your own Wi-Fi or Tailscale, encrypted, with no accounts.

Before you start

πŸ–₯️ SUPER DESKTOP on your PC

Installed and running on your Omarchy / Hyprland PC. New here? Install it first.

πŸ“± The app on your phone

The SUPER DESKTOP app for Android, installed on the phone you want to pair.

πŸ“Ά One network

Phone and PC on the same Wi-Fi, or both signed in to the same Tailscale network.

iPhone: the iOS app is in development and is not released yet. It pairs the same way; this guide will cover it once it is available.

Pair in five steps

Steps marked PC happen on your computer, Phone on your phone. Click any screenshot to see it full size.

PC Open a pairing invitation

  1. Press Super + Shift + Q to show SUPER DESKTOP, then click βš™ Settings at the right of the top bar.
  2. Choose Connections, then Add a device, then Pair a phone.
  3. The page checks three things and shows a green tick for each: Secure bridge (it starts the encrypted connection point, port 8759), Firewall and Network. If the firewall check asks, press Allow and enter your password once; that opens port 8759/tcp.
  4. A QR code appears under Invitation. Keep this page open for the next step.

The invitation works once, for five minutes. If it runs out, press Create a new invitation.

SUPER DESKTOP Settings, Connections page: This computer is online with a Stop button, followed by Add a device, PCs, Phones and other devices, Rejected devices, and Network and firewall.

The Add a device page with three choices: Pair a phone, Share this PC with another PC, and View another PC from here.

The Pair a phone page: Secure bridge running on port 8759, firewall port open and network ready, each with a green tick, then the Invitation with a QR code, a link with a Copy link button, an Expires in 4:57 timer, and Waiting for the phone to scan the code.
PC The invitation: a QR code, a link to copy, and a five-minute timer. Addresses are blurred in these screenshots.

Phone Scan the code

  1. Open the SUPER DESKTOP app. On a fresh install it opens Connections by itself; otherwise tap the Settings gear, then Connections.
  2. Tap Add connection, then Scan pairing QR, and point the camera at the code on your PC. Allow camera access if Android asks.
  3. The app asks Pair with this computer? Tap Continue: the invitation is from your own PC.

No camera handy? On the PC press Copy link, get the link to your phone, and choose Paste invitation instead. Nearby computers lists PCs on your Wi-Fi, and Enter address manually takes the address shown on the PC; both then ask for the invitation too, so the phone knows it is talking to your PC.

The Android app's Add connection page: instructions to open Pair a phone on the computer, a green Scan pairing QR button, Paste invitation, a Nearby computers list showing one PC with a Refresh button, and Enter address manually.
Phone Add connection: scan, paste, nearby or by address.
The Android app's Connections page with Add connection and Set up your computer, under a dialog titled Pair with this computer? that says to continue only if the invitation came from your own SUPER DESKTOP computer, with Cancel and Continue buttons.
Phone After scanning: tap Continue.

Phone Request approval

The app checks the connection and shows your PC's name and address under Step 2 of 3 Β· Pair. Tap Request approval.

The phone now shows a six-digit verification code and waits up to two minutes for your PC.

Add connection, Step 2 of 3, Pair: Request desktop approval, with the PC's name and its address blurred, a Connection address row, and a green Request approval button.
Phone Tap Request approval.
Step 2 of 3 after requesting: Verification code 627979, instructions to approve on the PC only if this code matches, Waiting up to 2 minutes, and a button reading Waiting for desktop approval.
Phone Your verification code.

PC Compare the codes and approve

On the PC a Connection request panel opens with your phone's name and a verification code. If SUPER DESKTOP is hidden, a notification SUPER DESKTOP: connection request appears instead: click it, or press Review request on the Pair a phone page.

  • The codes match (the PC groups the digits, 627 979; the phone shows 627979)? Press Approve.
  • They don't, or you don't recognise the device? Press Reject. A rejected device is blocked and can't ask again until you remove it from Settings β†’ Connections β†’ Rejected devices.
The Connection request panel: an Android device, Xiaomi 2602BPC18G, wants to use this PC's workspace and harnesses; its network address blurred, identity is the name reported by the device, not verified, expires in 1:59; verification code 627 979; Reject and Approve buttons.
PC The same code as the phone: Approve.

Done

The phone says You’re connected. Tap Back to Main View: your PC's harnesses appear in the list, with live terminals you can read and type into. The PC is saved on the phone, so you never pair it again unless you remove it.

Add connection, Step 3 of 3, Complete: You're connected, the PC is ready and its harnesses will now appear, with Back to Main View and View connections buttons.
Phone Connected.
The PC's Connection request panel after approving: a green tick and Xiaomi 2602BPC18G can now connect, with a note that its access can be revoked in Settings, Connections, Phones and other devices, and a Done button.
PC Approved.
A paired phone can operate your terminals, not just watch them. Only approve phones you own and trust, and revoke any phone you no longer use.

Away from home: Tailscale

Nearby discovery and the invitation's address work on your own Wi-Fi. To reach your PC from anywhere, use Tailscale.

  1. Install Tailscale on the PC and on the phone, and sign both in to the same network.
  2. Pair as above. The Pair a phone page shows the PC's Tailscale address next to its network address.
  3. On the phone, open Settings β†’ Connections, tap your PC's menu and choose Addresses, then pick its Tailscale address, marked recommended.

Manage and revoke

On the PC

Settings β†’ Connections β†’ Phones & other devices lists every phone with access, whether it is active, and until when. Revoke cuts a phone off at once.

On the phone

Settings β†’ Connections β†’ your PC's menu: Check connection, Addresses, Pair again or Remove connection. Removing it on the phone does not revoke the phone on the PC; revoke it there.

Rejected by mistake?

Settings β†’ Connections β†’ Rejected devices on the PC: Remove the phone, then pair again.
